Churchill mkiii 75mm gun

Hi guys

Not posted any builds for a while, thought i'd post the progress on my latest build afv clubs 1/35 Churchill mkii 75 mm gun.

This is the first churchill i've e r buiot so am really enjoying this one

It's took me 3 days to build but i have to say i think this is one of the nicest kits i've built to date. Superb fit, excellent engineering, and awesome attention to detail. The excellent working suspension with metal springs is really well designed but wasn't that hard to build and thenfit on everything is really tight..

It's been built pretty much oob, but including in the kit were the working suspension, working tracks and a metal rifled barrel.

I have added some track armour taken from this kit and an old sherman i had knocking around as well as replacing the string tow ropes with some metal ones



It's going to be heavily weathered, i'll get on to this later in the week

Glad to get into the groove on this build, painted the tank in vallejo dark green, didn't do much shading / modulation as this was always gonna be heavily weathered anyway. The weathering was started with splotches of liquid mask applied with a sponge to depict wear later on then a dust coat of heavily thinned lifecolor worn hemp to buold up the dust gradually. Once dry and the mask removed i refined the dust with some thinned oils used as a pin wash. I'll follow this up when dry with some pigments to finish the dust coat. I've got more layers planned for later on too!

Hi guys, got this one finished up quicler than i expected. After the oils had dried i finished the dust layer with some pigments. Then i moved onto the next layer of weathering a dried mud layer as if the tank had driven through an area of wet mud. This was airbrushed in vertical streaks using various lifecolor earth colours which was then suplememted with some ak washes. The final step was to take some real earth mixed with ak wet effects and white glue and applied to the tracks and running gear. At that i think i'll call this one finished.

This was a great project tha i thoroughly enjoyed, the afv club was top quality and the weathering was great fun
