AN i dont know if it will be worth all the effort of fitting firbe optics in the instrument panel to bring a bit of colour to it but well ive done it so far but just got to trim up the f/o so they are level an then just paint on them the tamyia clear colour paints so when i fit the big 5 mm white led in place hopefully it should shine up the f/o to show up in the instrument panel

OH DEAR DISATERDAY TODAY i started work on the nose section an was tryin to tidy up the tape i used to hold all them tiny wires for the led s an only went an cut through them all oh dear so been tryin to solder all 10 tiny hair thin wires an im now shatterd but yes ive done it an they all go again but the stress level has gone through the roof as the wires are so tiny an i dint know which wire worked which led so a lot of trail an error oh boy what a bad day an swear box overflowin just as well jen was over her freinds havin a rest now

The one time I built a model with LEDs and fibre-optics, I put the LEDs into a bit of plastic tube, partly to prevent light leaking and partly because drilling through the side of the plastic tube gave me a way to put the ends of the fibre-optic against the LEDs:

Sounds like a save with a very roundabout way to said save!!
HI Downtime yes it was a very lucky save as if the tiny wires were cut an shorter then it would have been curtains for the front lights an i felt like sayin toss it i wont try an repair the wires but my stubbon streak won out again to spend all day tryin to fix a really stupid mistake cheers for your reply

HI Jakko looks very nice bit of work there what is it ?

A Warhammer 40,000 Land Raider (aside: those things cost 76 euros these days? I thought 50 was a lot back when I played 40K). In 2008 I turned one into an all-singing, all-dancing fighting machine:

There are blinking lights in all the axles, by means of two blinking LEDs and all those fibre-optics, plus a red and a green LED in the sensor-thingie on the top. The axle lights blink alternatingly, but you can't see that in the photo because exposure was long enough that they all appear to simply be on. I do have a very low-res video of it, though:

Low-res because I made it at the time with my digital camera, and 320×240 pixels is the best it supported, I think.

The big doorway through which you can see the light from inside would be closed up later. The mirror in the forward door is the centre of a loudspeaker — there's one on the other side too, and the front hatch opens so I could put an MP3 player inside with music and battle sounds I took from a WH40K computer game :)

Here's a photo of it when fully built but not completely painted:

For some reason I don't have "finished" photos of it. The only one I could find quickly just now is in this photo of my army for a 2012 club tournament:

(It's all the way on the right :) )

You can get a low tack masking tape in painting stores, it's purple. If you can't get any let me know and I can pick some up for you. Pantherman

AN NOW more horror pics as when i came to fit the nose section it also would not fit as lookin along it its warped just a bit not noticeable until i come to fit it to the main fusealarge then it shows so had to grind a bit out of the front wings to get it to fit an then theres a line up problem but i think ive beaten it an glued it but took some big clamps to pull it togeather see in pic
