I'm being facetious. ( **** me that's another big word for a Wednesday!)
They're "balloon" tyres . Meant primarily for sand conditions. But no reason they wouldn't have been fitted to vehicles in other theatres. After all, there was a war on!

Got to admit I'm not 100% about the chain with regard to size and style.
I would leave it off if it was my model. It detracts massively from the look of the model because it's so big and not of a style often used outside of necklaces :(

I will look for something more in keeping. Annoying thing is, I had some, but buggered if I can find it!

So. I got some better looking chain. Amazon bargain.
It's had 1 coat of paint and will need more to cover all the gold. But I'm far happier with it than the previous.
I think I'm done with the painting. Need to bring it all together with some powders.
I use cheap artists pastel sticks . Scrape it off with a knife then apply with cotton buds, brushes and fingers.
Anyway. I can see the end coming soon...
Next will be a base of some sort, figure or two and anything else that comes to mind.

Everything, including the kitchen sink!

Living on this side of the pond, I often wonder at just how many scenes like that must have played out during and after the war!

Coming along nicely.

Imagine more often than we think. Or those would care to admit.
"Here mate..wanna buy a cheap motor?…one careful owner.."

That chain is a big improvement over the other type :) A good way to darken it would be to soak it in blueing/blackening solution, though that will be … tricky if you already glued it on.

Yeah. But I'm a "speed" builder I've discovered. If I don't keep moving I lose interest real quick.
But I will probably treat some spare chain for future use.
Where can I get this solution? I've never seen it.

It's sold specifically for modellers (be sure to get the kind intended for brass and not for white metal), but you can also use something like gun black (assuming you live in a country where this would be easy to get). Here's a guide.

It's stuff that's used to give a black colour to metal parts of guns :) It's a way to colour the metal by having it react with (usually) a liquid, which causes a chemical reaction on the outside of the metal that changes its colour.

Ah right . Well I'm in the UK so gun stuff is not exactly prolific!
Thankfully.

Right. I'm calling this done. Knowing when to stop is always the problem isn't it?
Will have a small diorama to go on and a couple of figures. But that will have to wait a couple of weeks as I'm off to France in a few days to visit some friends and family.
But for now, I'm happy with this.

There's going to be figures on this so that's going to be a challenge.
Wish me luck that they don't end up looking like they've been in some kind of horrible agricultural machinery based accident....

Have been there long time ago... Quiet and nice with a small river passing through if I remember well
