Barn find Beetle

Looking utterly incredible, i am in awe.
Can I offer a suggestion on the fabric webasto roof panel, While it wouldn't rot incredibly quickly, what you would find on a fabric roof (even vinyl come to that) in a barn that's been open to the elements is patches of moss, you'd probably find some moss patches in some of the panel gaps too.

Just a thought and certainly no critiscism, I'd love to be able to make a dio like this.

    WOW !!!! This has moved on at a pace ! Fantastic work ....absolutely Fantastic ! , great use of the lighter parts ,they look right at home in there , the rotten wood ...brilliant ! ,and the Beetle is looking great too ,love the rust ,its coming on well ......I want more ;D ;D ;D

You're welcome to the tip ,glad it worked for you ;)

Chris.

Thanks for the comments everyone, started a new job this week so not had time to post or to do any modelling :(

m1ks, you're right about the roof, I think there may be lots of moss growing on the sunroof

Chris, hope to get some more to you at the weekend

Can't wait to get back to the workbench

Happy modelling!

Hi Guys

Not had too much time for modelling this week, due to a new job. Also I've been doing a lot of researching for a dio to enter in the Big Spring Contest, got to get the kits ordered up and I'm so excited!!!

Anyway enough of that, here's what I've been up to.

Really I've been doing a lot of little jobs on the dio, I ripped up the decals a bit to match the rust area's, and then I gave an all over oil filter to dull down the paint a bit. Whilst the filter was still wet I used various oils to create some rust and dirt streaking over the vehicle. I also added the windows, which will get a dirt and slime wash at a later date. I also added and weathered the wheels

A lot of my time has been spent painting up the planks with acrylics, there is soooo much area to cover that I still have a while to go!

The external roof area was looking a bit bare so I used some finf grit sandpaper to mimic roof tar sheets

I also printed a couple of signs off the PC and backed them with plastic card to look like old porcelain signs. I used the name Thorndyke after the character in the Love bug.
