So I've been working on this project for a while. I thought others might enjoy seeing it. Sorry I don't have too many photos from when I began, but something's better than nothing right?
To recap the progress: the kit came out of the box with minimal flash to my memory. Things seemed to fit together nicely despite a lack of guide stubs! However there was an unfortunate molding issue with the canopy that I found troublesome. It was not fitted to the body of the plane and required significant puttying to flush together. The same was the case (to a lesser extent) for the two small pontoons off the wings. Putty-palooza, indeed. I also discovered that the cowl would not slide onto the nose projection molded for it. I sanded it - the projection - mostly off as a fix. A final issue I took with the kit was that the rudder came molded separately from the center pontoon. No big deal until one frequently snaps it off and begins building up glue along the seem. But fortunately I've gotten that mostly squared away.
Now, I'm about to begin the preshading phase. I'm still considering inscribing more panel lines along the body, but I'm kinda feeling good about how it looks at the moment.
Anyway, hopefully this will help others should they choose this kit. Enjoy the photos!
