Been at this awhile, This is a 1967 version from Revell. I actually owned a '69 and a '70, both light blue a long time ago. I was an enthusiast back in the day, so I noticed a few minor discrepancies, but not worth dealing with here. My cars were a bit lighter in color, if memory serves me, but I went with Testors light blue in the square bottles.

My hands are not so steady when it comes to painting some of the details like the buttons on the dash. I did miss one detail on the engine is that the fresh air tubes leading down to the heater boxes would have been corrugated aluminum rather than grey. Oh well...

In case you are curious about the spots I've sanded bare on top of the fenders, these are places where there are projections on the underside of the body that meet there. A drop of glue there to secure it, if I ever finish some of the other bits.

That looks great! I'll never forget my dad bought an old bug when I was a kid, I just couldn't wrap my head around the windshield wiper fluid reservoir was powered by the spare tire lol it blew my mind.

We also had a few Bugs (5) over a number of years as the family car. One was in this colour and this build looks great!

Our 2 VW Super Beatles.... 1973 and 1974 bought new for around $3000.00 each. I have such great memories of those little cars!

I knew those cars! I did carburetor rebuilds, break adjustments, valve adjustments and tune ups and much more... I understood those great cars! They lasted us 20 years!

I thought of your build Jimbo....attached are a couple photos 2 of my VW models.

Keep up the good work!

I remember that! You would air up the tire to 40 or 50# but you needed to deflate it if you had to use the spare! I also knew somebody who had an older bug you filled from the trunk I believe. Also no gas gauge so it had that lever on the floor you would switch the pick up from normal to "reserve". Just don't forget to reset it when you filled up!
I also seem to remember the pressure for tires was different for front and back. Something like 17 in the front and 23 in the back. No radials back then.

I had a '70 Bug. Years before that I drove from New England to Tennessee in my cousin's 68ish microbus. The one thing I found out fast was you could NOT come off an interstate and down shift from 4th gear directly to 1st gear. I did so and the belt exploded into a gazillion pieces! Luckily he had a spare!
