I've gotten a bit of a start on this bronco model and I'm finding it quite interesting in the detailing that went into the interior and the body and underside of this model. It doesn't have an engine but this will still be fun.

Did some part sorting and a bit of painting and started some assembly.

Really pleased with how the grill turned out. I tried assembling it and putting on the decals which were individual letters for the word Bronco; I managed to get the B on and then lost three of the last four letters because the decals were so thin and flimsy they would tear while trying to place them over the relief letters. I ended up taking them all off and painted the letters with a brush. Had to make a few touch-ups but nothing I couldn't fix.

The underside of the chassis has a lot of detail in itself and the components that attach are quite cool and provide for a complex suspension. Also they did a good job of disguising that there's no real engine in this model. You wouldn't know by looking at a first glance from underneath. A couple of the photos show that I didn't quite get enough black paint coverage on the shocks and I'm glad. It actually enhanced the detailing.

I also sprayed a heavy coat of my interior base color on the floor pans for the front and rear and then threw a bunch of gray flocking on it, shook it around, and then dumped it off onto a piece of wax paper that I had the fore thought to put down below it. The wax paper worked like a charm. It caught all the excess fall off and I was able to just fold it into a v trough and pour it back into the bottle; never having to touch it with my fingers.

Lastly, I got some primer and color on the body and then gave it a gloss coat.

Well that's it for now. Taking Saturday off and maybe Sunday I'll try starting to mask this thing off for the black trim

So I did some masking today on the bronco body so I could paint the black. Got it painted waited till it dried firmly, and started to remove the masking.
As I'm pulling the masking off I'm realizing that even after 2 days the clear coat had not fully cured and it was being pulled off by the masking tape along with a little bit of the color layer as well. Sanded down the imperfections as best I could and got it to where I was satisfied it would pass. So now I'm setting the body aside to think about it for a while and meanwhile I've started to assemble some of the interior.

Originally I had a different color scheme in mind so I changed all of that dramatically after looking at about a hundred different bronco interiors focusing on the ones that match the molding on this particular model and came up with a paint scheme that I'm quite happy with. The first thing I focused on was the dash which was highly detailed to begin with and came with some great decals to really accent it.

I also got some shoes on her and started to assemble the interior.

One thing I noticed in looking at all the photos of the interiors is they all had one thing in common. The rear tailgate inside is painted to match the outside color regardless of the interior color scheme so that's what I did.

Well that's as far as I've gotten so far. During the next few days I'll be addressing the body and post what happened after that

That dash looking great!
Thanks BarleyBop. I had a heck of a time detailing the stuff that needed to be painted like the steering wheel and a few little knobs and that on the air vents. I'm a lefty and unfortunately my left hand over the last few years has gotten substantially more shaky so painting fine details is a real challenge for me. I almost always end up having to go back over and touch up or redo what I did. Oh well, that certainly isn't stopping me.

Got my body repairs done as good as I plan to. Got some more gloss onto it but decided not to try to polish anything because it just doesn't look that good. There's a few buggers here and there and a lot of orange peel but for my first couple builds I'm giving myself plenty of leeway. Got everything assembled that belongs on it. Got decals down and I think it looks fairly presentable. I'm calling it done.

For just getting back into it, great job on this one! Some things can't be rushed, just a matter of practice... seems you enjoyed the build, that's half the battle!

Just want to take a second to thank everybody for all the tips and suggestions and the overall support here on this forum. I admit I've had a few frustrating moments where I thought maybe this isn't what I want to do but when I come on here and see all the honest help I'm like yep, I'm doing this. Again thank you all.
I'm going to take a couple days break and then I'm going to crack into the 1/12 scale 69 Camaro. I'm going to give myself lots of time with this one because at this scale there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to accomplish some pretty good things.

You did a great job on the build, If your not happy with the paint look into some light dirt and weathering you can do so it looks like its on the trail.;) I have a salt car the paint went south on so i rubbed it with a pencell eraser and gave it a blasted look on the front air dam and all the leading edges. i will post it later this evening east coast time.

I would love to see what you got. I kind of think it has a bit of a weathered book already because of the muting of the gloss coat on it gives it a bit of a UV dulling effect and there's a couple of chips around window ledges that add to the effect. I think maybe hitting it with a little mud and stuff like that might do some cool things to it too.
