So, in my mission to keep building things outside the comfort zone, I'm trying a boat. Or is it a ship? 🤔
Anyway I chose the revell Smit Houston.
While I was doing some research, because that's what I do, I found out it had a long life and various incarnations. Finally ending it's life as part of the Greenpeace fleet before being scrapped.
I toyed with the idea of doing it as the Greenpeace Solo, however as this is my first ever ship, (boat, big boat, small ship...) I decided to keep it simple and go with OOTB.
So far not a lot done, but it's a start.
The kit is very old now and the evidence of some flash and lots of extra tabs give the game away. But it still looks like it will be fun.

That's a good idea, since it's your first ship model. Keep it simple, focus on applying the modeling skills you have, and get used to the specific things you can run into with a ship.

You're off to a good start!

Best regards,
Brad

Bit more progress... hull painted, decks in international, standard, sea faring , "that looks good enough".
Rattle canned the black and brushed the rest.
Been slow going, (for me at least ) this . (4hrs so far)
But now I've got the bulk of the painting done im hoping to rattle on a bit more.

OK. Super structure is on. Most of it lined up...
This has definitely been the worst kit I've ever built. And I include 1970s airfix in that!
Heavy moulding, flash, indistinct details, unclear instructions... I remember now why I've never been a fan of revell.
But , like the little trooper I am, I'll soldier on with a song in my heart and a dodgy knee.
Onward.... 8hrs so far....

nothing wrong with rattle can.... i only really started airbrushing maybe a year ago after years of being intimidated by it but still go to the can for large hulls. i have had great results prior with rattle can. only problem was those tamiya spray cans started getting pricey
