1/6 Power Droid (GONK)

Hi all,

My recent trip to Wonderfest has opened my eyes to other aspects of SW modeling. I would like to start building some figures and\or Dios as well as my beloved starships.

I would like to reproduce the scene in ANH inside the Jawa Sandcrawler. I will be doing this over the next year, and maybe have something ready for next year's wonderfest. I picked up two 1/6 GONK droids from .JPG at the show.

The kit is really nice. There are a lot of GONK variants out there, the version I am building looks like this:


The kit version is a little different. So, I needed to replace some of the detailing, remove some of the detailing, and round the center plate. The stock kit is on the right and the altered version on the left.

I believe this will be available on Star Ship Modeler from .JPG Productions in the near future. This is the only 1/6 droid that I know of at this point.

Those are really cool! Have you ever thought of making Huey and Dewey from Silent Running? Either way, those are outstanding!

Hi all,

I was asked to do another buildup of the GONK for Jerseyfest. This one without any alteration to the kit, and leaving the top half loose to show the customers where the electronics could be installed.


On closer inspection of the GONK in ANH it appears to be grey with tons of rust and grime, giving it a brown appearance.So, I tried to mimic it with this paint scheme. I wanted to also try some rust chipping techniques on this one as it would fit the subject. I based the rust patterns on a old piece of farm equipment rotting in a near by field.
