Cockpit Green for F4U-1 (Tamiya Paints)

I’d like to know what the “proper” shade of cockpit green is appropriate for the F4U-1 Bird Cage Corsair? In Tamiya’s instructions they refer to mixing XF-3 and XF-5 two to one, it also refers to XF-4 (yellow green) in the paint list. I’ve tried XF-71 (as suggested in a tutorial) but...

    1/24 Fujimi Porsche 356B Roadster 1600s

I’m considering building a 1/24 Fujimi Porsche 356B Roadster 1600s, I bought this kit years ago (early 1990s) and never got around to building it. Looks like a very impressive kit (lots of parts) just wondering if anyone here is familiar with this kit. I’d like to build it as it was in 1961...

    Polly Scale paint question

I’ve recently started using Polly Scale paints and I’d like to know if there is a defined thinner to paint ratio that will yield best results? I’m using a Badger Patriot air-brush and unfortunately I can’t adjust the PSI on my compressor, any suggestions. Thank you, Pierre

    Testors Dullcote question

Recently I’ve tried using Testors Dullcote (liquid) with their Universal enamel thinner using an airbrush but the finish always comes out looking a bit white. I’ve tried different ratios and different PSIs. Does it matter if I’m using acrylic paint? Thank you, Pierre

    Professional Model Builder?

Here’s a question that I’ve been thinking about for some time now. What makes someone a “professional model builder” is it simply because they provide a service and charge a fee for their level of skill and accuracy? Or is there more to it? Thanks for your input, Pierre

    Accurate kits

Just got back into the hobby recently and was wondering who makes the most accurate kits. I know that Tamiya and Fujimi are excellent (having examples of both in 1/72 and 1/48 scale) but what about all the other kit manufactures out there? Another question that’s been on my mind is whether to...

    Getting back into the hobby

The last car I built was in 1968, it’s been a long time. I sure a lot has changed since. My main areas of interest are American cars built between 1950 - 1969 modeled in 1/24 scale. My question is, are there any “good” kits being offered within that time frame and in that scale? Thank you...

    First Build

For my first I’ve decided on the F4U-1 by Tamiya; I’m a little confused about the painting instructions, seems that the Tamiya paints have to be mixed. Are there other paints that can be used without mixing? Pierre

    New Here

Hello, Getting in the hobby (airplanes), I’ve been in model railroading for 20 plus years and thought it would be good to try my hand at something else. I’m debating whether it’s going to be in 1/72 (close to HO scale, a bit bigger) or 1/48 scale. Mostly interested in WWII models and I’m...
