Dark Elf take for Wed night D&D group. (first figure)

Without "washes"....I simply could not bring a bit of life to these figures. They cover up a lot of the errors in the painting process.

First stab at a Dark Elf for my Wed night D&D crew.

Can I use an airbrush outside?

Airbrushing outside works fine for me....as long as I manage the temperature extrememes of fridgid winter or high humid heat. Not had an issue with it yet. Would like to paint inside but even if I filter.....the smell would wrankle the wifes nose and her temperment for the hobby with it. Now if...

    Average time spent on model?

Between my career and demands of my time as a husband, father, and homeowner......It's hard for me to sit down uninterupted for a couple hours and work on a model. I usually piddle paddle at it for months. That B-24 I built probably took close to two months of just working on it here and there...

    Hasegawa P51

Not too late. Try a wash (powder & water). It's the easiest in my opinion and you can't really mess it up since it can all wipe off if you don't like it. Would really give it an instant weathered look and bring out the panel lines.

    Newb Forehead marker

It may seem trivial........but how many posts or how long does it take before "just experimenting" forehead stamp converts? I want to level up. lol......

    Warmachine and Hordes (some more)

This is simply amazing work. I've been contemplationg venturing into War Gaming with my teenager and was looking for some fine examples of how the figures could be painted. You just set the bar on it! Great job.

    Show us your mancave(s)!

Neo, that look nice. The track lighting and mocha wall colors with the wood floor give the whole room a relaxed "coffee shop" feel. I see a lot of people with those green scale mats. Have not picked one up myself. Do you use it to help you build scale or is it just a protective desk top covering?

    Show us your mancave(s)!

Penn State has a lot of my money. (laughing). The other side of that basement is a shrine to the school. Anyway, wife's from Franklin PA...about an hour north of Pitt so we know the area very well. We lived in Erie for years and used to hit the Penguins games on Friday night when we got home...

    Show us your mancave(s)!

Done..................yep, looks the same. Cleared out the computer stuff, mounted a light inside supported by some clamp ons. Moved in.......... cracked a beer. (Sound of crckets)

First model in 25 years...forgot how much I used to enjoy it.

Thanks gang, "Rookie" I washed with drypowder mixed in water, wiped it off, airbrushed with thinned flat black enamel, couple of coats of enamel between, then dry brushed with "makeup applicator" a light sand streaks flowing front to back....dusted the wheels...final flat coat goes on tonight...

Kit Manufacturers to Stay Away from?

Too broad a question in retrospect. I assume all the manufacturers have "duds" on occasion, I was just looking for the companies that are "landmines". Sounds like most that are out there are fairly decent so if I make a few bulk stocking buys the statistics are in my favor on "good vs bad"...

Kit Manufacturers to Stay Away from?

I'm pragmatic in as much that I only stock one new build kit ahead of the one I am working on at the house. At least for the moment. My concern is that being new, and wishing to cash in on kit savings deals when I see them, I am not familiar with kit manufactuers individual pro's and con's. I'm...

    B-17 (Revell/Monogram 1:48)

I have this one staged in an unopened box for my next project after I finish the Mitchell. Going to try the silver body....big model. Looks great on your end.

    1/48 Revell B-25J

Working on the same build. You did a great job here...the detail work really stands out. I liked the kit....a bit scared of the aluminum paint scheme so I optioned for Olive Drab on the whole model. Did you go custom on your decals? My set was a bit "vanilla" compared to your workup. The window...

Hellcat Mk.I (Hobby Boss) 1/48 "HOBBY BOSS 2012"

Did you do a dusting rub to get that dark shading or is all the work done with an airbrush? The detail intrumentation shading and cockpit shading is great and I'm looking to improve my skill here. Thanks
