I'm gonna try to go this year. I only live a few hours a way. But we have a big vacation planned at the beginning of May, so funds might be tight. We'll see though.

I have several different brands of acrylic paint. But I find that I like Vallejo Air the most. Not only for airbrushing but it really brushes well too. Some colors require a little more building up but I use that line more then any other.

Just started using it. Amazing stuff. I'm not usually great on brushes, so this stuff is worth the couple bucks to be sure.

I've always used Alclad Gloss Black. You can use enamel gloss black. But it's recommended that you test it first.

Tim, you make some valid points. I thought it was odd that he didn't do more to indicate just how fragile it was. Also, there was nothing to absorb the shock of the base of the model from the floor of the crate. It was secured directly to the base. A hard drop on the floor probably doomed this...

Some of you might know Boyd over at Trekworks. If you don't he is a pro model builder that builds for clients. Recently he was commissioned to build the 350 scale? Space Battleship Yamoto. This kit by it's self costs over $500. Needless to say he was pretty proud of it when he got it all done...

I enjoy his videos. He has a lot of good tips and he's just fun to watch.

I absolutely swear by this stuff. It's cheap. It takes very little to get a good coating and it creates very strong bond for acrylic paint. You can also get it just about anywhere.

I also use Vellejo thinner. But Vellejo does say you can also use distilled water since the paint is water based to begin with.
