Numbers of Panther Ds dwindled as the A and G were introduced, but I would not at all be surprised to find photos of Ds still in service in late 1944, let alone April or May 1945 when everything that could fight was thrown into the front line.
The main thing that marks your kit out as a "Kursk Panther" is the number of bolts around the outside of the wheels: only 16. They quickly discovered this was not enough, as the rims started breaking, and the quick fix was to double the number to 32 as this was easy to implement. After that, a slight redesign brought it to 24 bolts per wheel. If you don't care about such details then you can just keep the wheels as they are, of course.
