The kit: (Italeri C.R 42 1/48 scale)

I really love the WWII Italian aircraft. This aircraft was one of the last Italian bi-planes to fly during WWII. Note the complex camouflage pattern on the top surfaces (tri-tone). This aircraft operated at night thus the black on the cowling and under the top wing only. Interesting camouflage on the engine cover too. Note the flame dampeners under the engine and fuselage and rust. This aircraft was one of many at the end of the biplane era at the end of WWII. Quite sophisticated for that era and very durable. I love the wheel pants.

I built that kit recently, it was won in a raffle at my local IPMS show. Most of it was excellent, better than the Eat-a-larry reputation. But I did find the wing struts difficult. I think because I do not do biplanes, so I mounted the upper wing without them and added them later. Probably not the best idea.

I am sorry that you didn't choose this subject matter..."I" found this extremely interesting. Loved this build! Happy Modeling!

That's some really fancy camo, great build. Pantherman

Don't get me wrong, I pulled it out of the stash to build before many other items that I did buy. It was a fun kit, no regrets, and I'm not as negative about the brand anymore to boot!

Italeri has a bad reputation, especially in America I think, that's not really deserved. Their 1990s kits are … not great. Their 1970s–early '80s kits are very good for their time and still quite decent today. Since the '90s they improved again, though they reissue too many of their mediocre kits, IMHO.

Love it.
You're setting the bar high with this one!

I have it in my stash, but I think I'll get some experience with the airbrush before attempting that camo scheme!

He is making all of us Americans look bad to the world now.... We hope this all stops soon! Reesche

Oh, we've had our problems, and whether it's national or international, or the local PTA, politics have a way of complicating things.
Hopefully our time in this forum offers some respite, and everyone can take a moment to enjoy this great hobby we share.
