So here are some more pics of the Skua I built for the Vertical vengeance dive-bomber Group Build.
It was an interesting departure from my more comfortable zone of North African/Mediterranean soft skin and armour builds.
The 1/48 kit by Special Hobby had its challenges, and I did rectify and supplement the kit in some areas, including four guns in the wings, a 500 pound bomb, an aftermarket Vickers, and alternate Fleet Air Arm decals from Xtradecal.
Planes are very new to me, so no doubt I'll look back later and see glaring issues!
It was also my first end-to-end build with airbrush, so that was fun!

The build is a bit of a composite, a Skua that had seen action in the sinking of the Scharnhorst in 1940, then moved to the Mediterranean for attacks on the French fleet which the Vichy had moved to North Africa to keep out of Germany's hands. Unfortunately, Churchill wasn't convinced and they were attacked in north African harbours, just to be sure. Many French sailors were lost, resulting in complications for the later joint British American operation Torch amphibious assault.
The wheel wells still bear the black and white markings from the Norwegian campaign, but the camo has been updated for the Mediterranean theater.
