Picked up a '65 convertible and a '68 hardtop today. I had a '68 when I was 18 loved that car and still kicking myself for selling it. I had a custom blue metallic that depending on the light looked dark blue, green or black. I'll have to scrounge and see if I can find a pic because that's what I'll base this build on. Kit doesn't have an engine! That's wild. So I wasn't going to start anything until I cleared up at least four builds… but I primed it today. This primer is excellent and $20 for a large can. Anyway it'll be a bit before I actually get going on this build, need to order a motor and I'm going to order paint from scale finishes. I'd like to try their product. If anyone wants to join in we can make this a group build.

Final paint not quite the same color as mine was but close enough. Ready for 2k!

final paint on this. Not quite the same color as my car was but pretty close. Ready for the 2k. I ordered a resin motor from a new supplier. The place I was ordering from irritated me. I had asked them a question about getting a 1/16 motor and they were less than helpful. Anyway new supplier has a great rep and was $8 cheaper!

Update on motor. Need to provide some touch up. I've done some chrome on the body. Would like to wrap this up by the weekend. Well just remembered I ordered a new motor for it since I warped my hood. Ordered a 400 with blower I believe. Oh boy, losing track of what I have going. Anyway, here's a 400 motor I'll have ready for the future!

That is some DEEP Blue! Could get lost in there...
I had a dark blue metallic '68 gto when I was 17. Depending on the lighting it looked dark blue, dark green or black. Man that car was fun! I once raced a blown corvette and one of the girls in my car needed up vomiting from the smoke, noise and speed! I still laugh about that.

Got my new engine today! It's a supercharged 440. If I don't sleep tonight this is what I'll be working on! I am really liking the products and service from resin ridez. Turnaround is great and customer service is even better.

Worked on the motor. Glass is in. Seat belts made and installed. Finished up dash. Hurst shifter- wood grip, chrome stem, and leather dust cover. Carpet installed. Getting there. I need to do the details of the engine next.

Thank you! Far from perfection but the builds are getting better.

Far from perfection is moot dude. Non of us are perfect, we aren't pros, and even " the pros" do stupid things. If they came out perfect all the time then it's pointless in my opinion. When I'm really proud of something I've done around the house my wife has the gift of showing me where I've messed up to bring me back down ….. don't get me wrong I've botched plenty of kits to the point I give up and feed the recycle bin lol, that's just how it goes.

We are our own worst critics... and as stated already, there's no point in that. Mistakes happen, its about enjoying a hobby a LOT of us enjoy, comparing builds, notes and techniques. Critiques and judgemental eyes are for competitions.
In the meantime, build, have fun and when s4hit goes wrong, shrug it off, take a deep breath and try not to fixate on it.....or cover it with paint, glue, foil or foam. 🤣
