Ok so out to the sun with you, the parts need a bit more UV some are kind of tacky. The Dragon was driven by the great Eddy Hill, the first dragster to go 200+mph. Im kind of bumed the kit has hemi engines but the car was powered by two Buick engines. I will look around but i dont think i will find a blown Buick 348 anyplace. The other issue, for me that is, Eddy liked purple cars, but its a purple some were between plum crazy and lavender, Yick , but if its going to be correct so be it.

Cleaned up the tires and wheels and painted them today, I cant find printed Buick engines, a Pontiac would be the closest to use to fake one, but it would be another 50 bucks in a kit i didnt plan to do much customizing to. So its going to be a trailer queen with the Hemis all perfect not run anymore just started up at kakel fests. The chassis will be sapphire blue metal flake, black engine blocks the rest polished, and the little body pearl white.

Put all the wheels together and swabbed more paint on the chassis and front suspension, detailed the bolts on the frontend, and did a quick mock up. Im thinking about getting another raiders coach for the engines they are Pontiac but have the same valve covers and head configuration as the real car, i can at least fake them being buick engines if no one looks to close. Anyone interested in the rest of the raider kit and two blown hemis.?

A little more paint on the engines and did a cheater wire job on the mags. Looking at the real car pics i have to make 4 stack injectors, whats there is not right at all so i will soak the scoops tomorrow and repaint when the injectors are right.

I found more pictures of it, the throttle linkage is crazy i dont see how it could remain stable even for the 8 seconds it took to get down the track. It also seems there was no exhaust pipes at all on the inboard heads, maybe some tin shields bolted on to if anything just direct the exhaust flow down. Also a pic with the valve covers off, nothing fancy at all, just stock ball socket rocker arms.

I had to do some pondering on the throttle linkage from the pedal to the link coming out of the fire wall. What ever is under the gas pedal has to be pushed down instead of forward to make the link in the firewall rotate to the right pulling the short link that in turn pulls the long one that is attached to both fuel valves on the injectors.

With work slow cause of snow i got a good bit done, made a master cylinder and handle, magnetos an plugs wired, ring gear driven fuel pumps made, injector valves and fittings done, injectors and scoops mounted. Still have to make a chute release handle and cable. May be done by the end of the week unless i think of more detail i want to do.

You do excellent work my friend!

I was a little disappointed not having the right engines, but the results are anything but disappointing. Still a bit to do with the chute, the throttle may have to get a rethink, the transfer case is inside the body on the real car so the engines were closer to the firewall than they are in the kit.

How awesome is that?! 😝
On the real car the engines provide the support, the chassis is attached to the blocks front and back making the engine part of the chassis. Many cars back in the day did this to make them lighter, but it was outlawed in the late 70s for obvious safety reasons.

Wouldn't any GMC big-block work?

Externally, at scale, the difference was the colors used no?
After looking for more info i got conflicting engine stories, all could be possible because of the exhaust port locations. Two ports close together in the center, so it could have been pontiac, olds or buick engines under 400ci. I would bet on them being pontiac, if so texas 3d has blown pontiac engines that would look correct. Maybe one day i will build it again with the proper engines. The kit is only 35 bucks at etsy or same price right from hooligans 3d parts.

Thank you sir, the more it comes together the more i like it, it is worth a little more detail, but the oldies actually didnt have much to begin with. I like diggers they are always more radical than long rails.

You should try to build a rock bouncer, I'd love to see that, I feel like it would be really challenging to figure it all out.

Got all the cockpit basics in, chute release lever, and parachute, hand brake, shift lever and link, the steering wheel is mounted in the body, this is one of things i dont like about printed kits, strange ways to place accessories that take away from the basic reality of the car. Still have some time maybe i will shave it out and make a proper steering collum. After a little Jethro Bodine sypherin i decided to do a cable throttle link to the right side engine and use the real car hard link from the right to the left engine.

Calling it done, another in the stable of 60s widow makers. Got a couple more to go. I also found the way to brighten up my pictures so the cars actually look like they should,
