i cant imagine im the only one... ive been in the habit of cutting out the front box art as a "trophy" of sorts. i have hung some up in the work area.. but its something that always takes me back to the early days getting into the hobby when a parent would take me to the hobby shop and i would be drawn in - no pun , by some cool artwork. im sure most of you ship guys remember the revell titanic box with the liner hurling towards the giant iceberg...

I save the instructions of my builds, and some of the boxes that had artwork I really liked.
I had to throw away the boxes after a cross country move last year.
I finished the first build after the move five months ago and still got the box. 17533220505012168328998344561982.jpg

WELL i dont keep my boxes as they are too big so in the bin they go as the 1/200 hornet box is a bout over 4 ft long an to fit my shelfs up i will have to take my star trek pics down as running out of space quickly lol

When I was a kid, I did that for a time with the box art from Revell's 1/720 ship kits. I cut the top panel to hang (ie, tack up) on the wall. I cut the side panels up for the pictures of the other kits, to keep like baseball cards. I was pretty unsophisticated about it, though. Just a pair of heavy scissors, so the edges were rough. I gave it up after a while. I don't keep boxes for the art today, but to store things till I finish a build.

I have a few boxes, keeping them for spares.
But I have kept all the box tops, cut and folded flat. Hadn't thought about framing... just keeping for reference as I figure I may rework (weather, paint and add figures/stowage) sometime in the future. Turned out to be useful around Christmas when I started posting my old builds from the last 8-10 or so years.

I primarily build aircraft, but I have often bought kits of other types of models just because I thought the box art was cool. I really appreciate box art now having survived the 1980s and 90s "built kit photo" Dark Ages.

Haha! Kinda like the amazing LP cover art that all but disappeared, but hopefully will make a comeback with the renewed interest in vinyl.
Unfortunately, just a matter of time before it is all replaced by AI generated slop.

And for you folks venturing into the 3D printing world, sadly, a CAD rendering of the part/model is neither inspiring nor an accurate depiction of the product.

Roger Dean and Gerald Scarfe, both were fantastic!

I have started cutting off the box-tops since returning to the hobby too. Sort of a trophy, but mostly just for memories.

I also keep all my box art as well as the instructions and any research. All individually filed with the build start and finish date on a little label stuck to the file............

Yeah, I hear you. I'm just weird. OCD does that to you. Pantherman

Yep, "they" already call us all "Geeks", so why not keep the box art and every set of instructions we've ever built? HA! The unimaginative might find it hard to understand the meaning of keeping these things, but we get it. Ruck On!

P.S. I've kept every set of instructions for every kit I've ever built, so my grandkid's grandkids won't have to wonder what I was up to. I've also kept box art from most every figure set I've painted, stored in the file cabinet, and all the research material, i.e., Pantherman, in the model bunker for posterity's sake. Why stop now?

P.S.S. No labels or dates, that's a bit over the top for me, Pantherman! :D:p;)
