1970 Chevelle SS (John Wick's)

A gift from a friend and the next build was on. I went all in, purchasing several upgrades and PE kits from both Model Car Garage and Pro Tech. This was fun, and built it up, adding details where my skills would allow. Typical older kit, body had LOTS of issue, mold/seam lines, warps and dips. Tried to fix them, as it seems I'm painting every car I build black, ha ha- Wanted to remove the plastic from the grille, (using the PE grill) so you could actually see the radiator, (like a real vehicle in those days), plus it does help the PE Grill fit better.

Even though I build mostly ww2 softskin military vehicles, from the first I wanted to 'liberate' the plastic bound grills so the engines and rads can breathe! Just feels right.

Right?! It is extra work, but you're absolutely right, it works.

Great work. But looking at the shell being prepped, I'd have been tempted to gloss it at that stage!

Thank you! That was after my first paint attempt, it was terrible, (the older rattle can I used spattered, did not level and there were so many dips, seams, and mold lines, I couldn't live with it. So, all the sanding and a new can, got the results shown.
