limited space
...in '82, spent 6 weeks making my way down from Tokyo to the Rykyu Islands. Stayed in hostels, micro hotel rooms with barely 1-1/2 tatami, minshuku, ryokan and even a 'love' hotel!

I was struck by the small spaces, but also how the architecture focused my experience on a more pleasant view, alcove or tiny garden just outside the room.

And the concept of a multi-purpose space seemed built into the Japanese psyche...

Wake up, roll up the futon and place it in the cupboard. Place a few cushions, a small table, and the space is now prepared for a meal, or work. After the evening meal, open another panel, and there was a TV, and the small heater under the skirted table kept you warm through the evening, until it too was put away, and out came the bedding.

Thanks for that great collection of small spaces!

I have a shared space: Mon thru Thur Work-From-Home space; Fri thru Sun hobby space. Kind of a hassle but you do what you can.
Change. Adapt. Overcome.

Modeling actually gave me the incentive to be physically organized. When you have very little space, everything must have a place, and be in that space when not in use.

Be sure you are lying down if you watch this short video to the end. Talk ... about ... space!

On my phone that guy is talking in Italian with a weird synthetic accent and using some words which are formally correct but not fully coherent with the contest. It sounds like that guy is a bunch of bytes...another reason to hate him/it.

I do not know the creator nor sub to his channel, but do you mean you are hearing it translated to Italian? If so I suspect Google's AI is translating on the fly.

It was in English for me, and the voice sounded a lot like Andy, as in the Hobby Headquarters guy.

Maybe it was Google AI translating. I can confirm that on my phone the guy speaks in Italian but it sounds artificial.

If I play the video on my computer, I hear someone talking American English. However, if I click the gearwheel icon, I can also choose other languages, including Italian. As my Italian is just about non-existent, though, I can't tell if it sounds artificial. There is no Dutch option, else I would have tried that too to hear if that did.
