What's wrong with Kitty Hawk?

General fit I'd say. They are ridiculed or lambasted widely in modeleing circles and went bankrupt because of the many problems folks have which( reportedly) applied to most of their kits.

It is not all bad. There are some very nice things, and some innovative ideas. I'd say surface detail is excellent for the most part. But in some places there are huge gaps, in others there are huge steps. Plan on lots of putty and sanding and you should be good.

One thing on this particular kit is that body panels like landing gear covers, airbrakes, etc. have a tiny lip for aerodynamic seal in real-life. The molds show this perfectly, but there's a sprue-gate right in the middle of the dang thing that you'd have to be a brain surgeon to clean perfectly. Similar story on ejection pins, not only are they in visible areas, but they are deep. I used CA glue to plug most of them, which is hard to sand, but I hate putty.

Though I was of that generation, the only thing I got high on was rare roast beef, and life in general. Having been medically exposed to the wonders of modern drugs … I'll pass, for the most part. I don't have to share. The good stuff is right there, if only one can sense it.

I've seen enough bad reviews of kitty hawk kits that I won't buy them. Haven't even attempted one though so I've no experience to back anything up.

well i bought a JAGUAR plane kit made by kitty hawk an it was terrible had to cut out a half an inch on bottom fusealarge just to get the main undercart to fit an then fit in the hole a bit of plastcard an other parts were miles out so i would not buy another an it was a 50 quid kit so not cheap no wonder they went bust

They recently had the restored "Beast Of Turin" running on tithe track at Goodwood.
It definitely looked like a handful!!
