I've been happy with the fit. I chose to close the air brake and main gear doors, which took some putty to fill in, but that's pretty much been it. The wing to fuselage fit is very good. I'd recommend it as being a good one.Looking very good. I have this kit in my stash. How is the build?
Pretty much!the burnt metal look from the engine heat (it's an F-100, I guess I pretty much have to)
1/32 would definitely be awesome but it would sure take up a lot of display case space. I started building models in 1/32 but switched to 1/48 for that reason.I look forward to seeing your bird, F-100 is one of my favorites! I'm resisting the urge to but the 1/32 scale version.
Yes, I am trying to get better at my freehand painting and the only way I'm going to do that is to keep practicing.See what you mean about the subtle difference in the greens, but visible.
Like you say, it must have been tricky to paint... Freehand, I gather?
You would only need to respray the darker patches, thoughI'm too lazy to repaint the whole thing.
I used Tamiya tape for curves along the edges and yellow Frog Tape (brand name) to fill in the rest. It's the lowest tack style of Frog Tape. I also painted the 3 colors in one afternoon so that I could get the tape on and back off again quickly.Congrats on not lifting the NMF! What did you use for masking?
He's right of course. If it were me I'd darken up the darkgreen just a bit, but the color variations on these was extreme, it seems no two aircraft look the same. You would only need to respray the darker patches, thoughOn the real thing, the difference between the two shades of green was also not necessarily all that apparent, however.
The rear fuselage heat damage on those two jets is awesome. Makes you wonder why they didn't just leave those area bare metal. He's right of course. If it were me I'd darken up the darkgreen just a bit, but the color variations on these was extreme, it seems no two aircraft look the same.
Since all of the masking has been removed, I won't be doing any more airbrush work. I agree that it's the obvious solution, but look back at my post to see the part about lazy…. I've decided that I'm going to go with this aircraft being painted colors that are very close to each other. Since that's the case, I'm dead on!He's right of course.
