Im keeping the DUKW and Bridge Layer inside as well the bagged kits. The former two are about halfway done with the major assemblies.

The question is which of the bagged kits to start? The Jeep belongs to the wife.

Really? It's not exactly the greatest kit you'll ever build … It has somewhat toy-like features, such as oversized hinges for the working hatches, lacks a good deal of visible details, the roadwheels are too narrow, the inner faces of the tracks wrong, etc. … (I built it around 30 years ago and didn't think it overly great even then. Better in some ways than the ESCI kit, worse in others. These days I wouldn't recommend either, TBH.)

Im not a rivet counter, I dont care about absolute dead nuts perfect accuracy. Its cool looking and different to throw up on the shelf. Fairly quick build.

BOOM....Direct hit. You could have held back just a little bit on that punch

How do you mean? I just listed some issues with the kit, but I didn't say he shouldn't build it, let alone that he would be stupid to want to or anything like that. Anyone who doesn't care about those things, is free to ignore my comments — but someone who does care, would probably like to know about them beforehand, I figure.

Gee whiz. Didn't mean to open up a big discussion. The guy just seemed happy to want to build that model and you come back with. Really? And that was my immediate reaction. Boom. You leveled him! I think it's haha funny ain't a thing but a chicken wing type thing. But be my guest if you want to make a big deal about it. I'd like to have half that stash for a hundred bucks! I would take a couple of those big trucks and make a "Welderup" Rat Rod

I'm not making a big deal and I'm not "levelling" him. At least, not from where I'm sitting. I'm just stating facts for him, you, and others to do with as you will. Apparently, you've interpreted this as an offensive comment, but it certainly wasn't intended as such, and the same goes for my attempt to explain myself, by the looks of it.

What I suspect is going on here, is culture clash. From what I've read and seen, Americans tend to begin with praise and only then state critique they have ("You did these bits well, but those other ones need improvement") in order to soften the blow, so to speak, and are likely to view comments that offer criticism only as a kind of attack. Whereas Dutch people prefer (and accept) it for people to just say what they mean, taking it as that the things left unsaid are up to scratch ("These bits can do with improvement.").

I personally also have a (sometimes bad) habit of responding with clarifications as long as I have the impression that the other person isn't getting the point I'm trying to make :)

Nope Dutchie, not offensive at all. Typical though. Bringing race into the subject and what country a person lives in.

WTF …? "Race"? I'm talking about differences in cultural background (or cultural baggage, maybe), which affects how people perceive what others do and say. The fact that you misinterpret my comments on that to cast them in an American worldview¹ really says enough by itself.

¹ Few Western cultures are as obsessed with "race" as the USA is.

**** guys, I'm sorry. I just now found my phone. My dog had it. He's a big ass German Shepherd that don't like no one or nothing. I told him to quit texting on my phone. If he said anything wrong I apologize. I told his ******* to think for 10 seconds before you text but he never listens.

HI you say the jeep belongs to the wife so will she be building it ? an show on here ? as its to me anyway unusual to see a lady build a military vechile but my wife helps me build my models a little when she is not doin her diamon art
chrisb

Shes just getting into it a bit. Yes she will be building it and Ill probably post it for her. For her its cars and American armor(she is the Army veteran of 9 years not I). She has a Stryker kit(we have matching ones), and are going to copy Ghost Stryker Brigade since we were there for the change of command ceremony with PGR at JBLM a couple years back, and got to meet the incoming general.
