The next project has ARRIVED!!!

Vermithrax is coming along very nicely. I wanna hit the main body areas with a light drybrushing of a yellowish green to tie everything together, add a shade or two more lighter reds to the wing membranes, touch up the teeth cos I accidentally painted over a few, then hit it with clear to seal. Then get more on the underside.20210721_012017.jpg20210721_012034.jpg20210721_012037.jpg

And after tidying up the final detail painting... I call this sucker DONE!! Except for a plaque of course.

Had a blast working on this. And frankly learned a bit with the painting side.

So sometime next week I will start the second kit that guy at work gave me, the old Aurora Hartford kit.

Some closer up pics...20210722_011006.jpg20210722_011039.jpg20210722_011047.jpg20210722_011102.jpg20210722_011110.jpg20210722_011128.jpg20210722_011137.jpg

There is one thing that I wish I'd known about before doing this kit. Monday night I looked at some reference photos of the animatronic and stop motion puppets of Vermithrax. She has two rows of spikes running down the sides of her neck and ending somewhere about midback. Had I known that before I primed her I would have added those. Hmmm... maybe another buildup down the road?

The kit. Same maker as my War Machine diorama, Pegasus.

And it's pretty big. It looks to be made mostly from a vinylish plastic with the base being vacu formed. I WILL need to get a big plaque for this.

I will post more shortly after ripping bags apart to see the goodies.:D
That looks like a cool kit..

Got some basecoat slapped on Vermithrax. Once I get this brown over the main body I am painting a darker shade onto the wings, which will eventually be lightened and reddened till its a somewhat burnt skin looking color. And the main body will then be colored with a dark green(MAYBE with heavy dry brushing).
My wife and I are looking at this, and both of us have mouths open, going "Woooooooooooow". That is a big kit. I have the same 3rd hand as you so I understand the size of the kit by the magnifier. Looking awesome.
