Hi Guys

Just about to get started on my latest project, Tamiya's Schwimmwagen and Dragon's winter panzer riders.

The plan is to use a round base and have the figures in the Schwimmwagen approaching a river bank from the water.

I bought a kilo of clear resin for the water, i'm a bit nervous about using it, but I'm ready to go

Can't wait to start building!

Thanks for looking

cheers John

ive been meaning to work with resin water for a while now, but only just plucked up the courage!

Cheers Spud

Managed to get a start on it this weekend, the Schwimmwagen went together quick, but then it was only 2 sprues. The figures was a bit more complicated especially the driver. I compared the kit driver to the Dragon figures and it was like a different scale! After adjusting the feet and the coat I managed to shoehorn him in, with a little bit of fettling on the steering column too.

I filled up the wagen with misc kit and usig the silicone paper I made a windscreen cover.

Heres the pics

Love the placement of figs in the wagen, and the added details look sweet! Have you thought of a paint job for the schwimmy yet? anyhoo not to hi-jack your thread, but I just wanted to share thisn pic with ya of the same figs i did recently for a 250 project, even for non gen-2 figs they still look pretty good.Keep up the good work I like the direction this is going in!

Thanks guys

I know what you mean glorfindel, they do look precarious, especially as this will be on water!

Love your figs chris, not decided which direction to go on my figs, probably leaning towards camo rather than white though. the schwimmy will probably dunkelgelb with heavy chipping.

Hiya Leighbo,

Looks like your layout will work just fine, standing by for the painting. By the way, those figures make that midget rig look really small, lol. Keep er rollin.

Cheers, Ski.

Thanks guys,

And I puzzled over making the base and then how to make a temporary structure to hold the clear resin in, I went for a 6" cake tin with a loose base, obviously!

I cut a rough base from card and also lined the tin with a piece of white card. To stop anything leaking through I covered the loose base with tin foil and taped it to the side card. Then I roughed out the bank with some foam then made up some plaster of paris and used that to create the base of the river and the bank.

Thankfully this popped out without sticking so I just cut the card around the plaster

Now when I come to pour the clear resin the cake tin should make a nice round mould (hopefully without sticking!)

Thamsk for looking,

how ate you goiing to get the car to stay aflot in the resin?

i have to pour the resin 6mm at a time to avoid any problems with heat from the resin so when i get to the right level i'll stand it on the resin.

6mm at a time and then 24 hours curing in between each layer is gonna take forever!
