Revell 1/40 Lacrosse Missile With Mobile Launcher COMPLETED

My other projects are in the painting stages so I needed something to build. This is the 1997 release but is definitely the same old 1958 mold with lots of flash, big seam lines and poor fit. Should be a fun buildup.

One of those old kits made to fit the box, I think. It would make a good, modern model on the basis of an AFV Club M35 (at least, I think that's what the truck is) but you'd have to make everything yourself … This kit will definitely be easier

Seems a shame to cover up the rig details with these solid platforms, but I'm undecided if I want to go to the trouble of drilling them out or replicating them with steel mesh type platforms.

Replacing them would greatly improve the look of the model, but these look like they're meant to represent those steel grille-type, grid-like plates. I suspect that finding a suitable material to give it the right look may be difficult.

Primer done. That was a chore getting in all those nooks and crannies, not to mention a couple clogs to clear out.

Base with a little bit of post-shading.

Gloss coat and decals done. These were old decals, the adhesive was milky and had to be wiped off the back of each one after soaking. The were borderline curlers but I managed to get them to flatten out. A couple more coats of Micro Sol and I think they'll settle nicely.

Upon reading this I was thinking "dude WTF?!" then I read the "until the glue sets" part...never mind!

Yeah somehow. The missile is mounted a bit skewed to the main launch beam, which is also angled a bit to one side. Somehow the missile twists" off of it.
