Here's another scratch-build I've been working on recently . It's another Star Wars themed ship of my own design which I call the "Light Interdiction Cruiser" . I see it as a ship from early in the Clone Wars , before the Republic "went big" with their designs , but with elements that would become more prevalent later on . I only had a rough idea were I wanted to go with the design and more or less made it up as I went along . It's been a pretty quick build , as I got as far as the photos show in about 2 weeks , due to having some time off work and the good weather here in the U.k allowed me to do a lot of the messy work outside . Work on the model has slowed down now that I'm back at work , but I'm hoping to getting around to finishing it over the next few weeks .
I started off by building some engines from the ends of rolls of cling-film as well as the cardboard tubes from the same and the ship developed from there . I'm working at a scale of 1/100 and the ship's made from sheet styrene of various thicknesses , with kit parts from the bits-box for detail . Painting is done with spray cans .

She's an impressive looking ship.
Definitely has the right feel for the era

Thanks for the positive comments . ;D
I've added some antenna/sensors made from brass rod to the "nose" area since I took these pictures , as I felt the ship was looking too much "Galactica" and less "Star Wars " . I'm now waiting to re-stock my supplies of thin(ner) styrene and strip before I can carry on the build .

Outstanding!
Can't help but noticing some of the familiar elements for your superdetailing, like a fair part of the DS9 Runabout kit :)
Thats a top class scratchbuilding, both thumbs up!

I was waiting for someone to spot that ! ( In my defence , it's only ONE part , albeit a pretty big one. ) ;D
I'm waiting for someone to point out the parts I used for the engines , as they're the same ones I used on my "D-Wing" Fighter ( you can spot this in one of the pics ) . My excuse is both ships are from the same manufacturer ( as well as the fact I've got hundreds of those parts !)

Very nice scratch building. The details you added make this ship look impressive. Just amazing work!!!

It's been a while since I worked on the Cruiser , as an accident caused some damage and to be honest , it killed a little enthusiasm I had for the build as I'd spent a fair amount of time adding brass rod and tube detail ( which I hadn't gotten around to photographing ) and the idea of doing it all again didn't exactly fill me with delight !
Anyway , I've gotten "back on the horse " and the repairs are underway . The rebuild has taken the design in a slightly different direction , as I want to give the ship a more "Star Destroyer/Pointy nosed " look . It looks a little strange at the moment , but it'll all make sense in the end ! ( Ignore the paint , it's just to highlight the filling/seam work of the repairs ).

That is really a bummer that this ship suffered some damage. I really like the design and look of the panels and detail that you have put into this so far. Can't wait to this one painted and weathered. Very nice shape and excellent scratching skills.

The re-design of the cruiser has led to a re-think of the colour scheme as well ! ( A local shop has started stocking "Holts" auto paints and I've found a light grey that's great for "Imperial-style " ships. ) I've started adding the top coat and am experimenting with pastel washes to add a little shading . I'll be using "dry" pastels for the final weathering after I've added some dark grey markings/stripes . I'll As for the build , I'm more or less "snagging" now , fixing the little imperfections that result from a build that went together relatively quickly . I'm not 100% sure on the "sensor dish" , I may replace it with a smaller one . I've added a few greeblies to the front engine area and am working on the "edge" of the mid-fuselage . I plan on adding some weapons here , so I'm keeping a little space clear !
