I hear ya, Jason! I ride, too, and my training consists of 20-25 miles in the evening, followed by 2 glasses of Franziskaner
I do find that I burn it off in the course of the summer, I can tell by the holes in my belt.
If I may offer a tip for motivation, I'd find a cause to ride for. For example, I ride each fall in a tour to raise funds for multiple sclerosis research and treatment, and I ride with a group of friends as a team. I've been doing that ride for 10 years, and I found that that keeps me motivated to get out on the road when I get home every day. Before I joined the tour, I'd ride, but as often as not, if I didn't feel like going, I'd blow it off.
