I actually got to meet him back when I was in Grade 6.

Him, Alan Sheppard, Buzz Aldren, and a few others were in the city at the university...I was lucky enough to be picked as one of 2 kids from my school that got to go see them.

To me, they were like rock stars!!

I got to meet him last year while on duty at the airport.
He was (and still is) one of my heroes when I was a kid.

Those must be great memories having met him.

Next time you're out on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, give him a wink. That was the message from his family and I can't think of a better way to remember him.
