My 16.5" Spindrift From Irwin Allen's TV series LAND OF THE GIANTS build.
This is NOT the old Aurora kit.
This is NOT any reops of the old Aurora kit.
This is NOT the little Moebius kit.
It is however, a perfectly cast replica Of the Hero Filming miniature, using 3D scans of said miniature, which was accomplished by friend and Giants expert, Mark Joseph Dorias!
I acquired the kit via a friend who wanted his own Spindrift built.
What I did...
Assembled and Air brushed the model with mixed Tamiya and Vallejo paints based on my library of reference photos and Video.
Added my own independent lighting.
Added a faux cockpit(like the original)...I personally don't require a full interior. It's not a Barbie dream house.
The stripes were also air brushed and reflect the wonky nature of the original.
Weathered.
It's one of my favorite pieces because it captures the original filming miniature perfectly without the intrusion of self appointed "experts"who's arrogant and condescending nature thinks they are better than the original Artisans who made the filming miniature.
Thanks!

If you like any of the Irwin Allen produced TV series like LOTG, Lost in Space, or VTTBOTS, you should check out the link below to his fan based news network. Lots of screen grabs, behind the scenes trivia, and photos of the actors and miniatures from the shows.
I found the photos of the Spindrift model and stage set very helpful when I built my own Spindrift model several years ago.
