I went ahead and started ANOTHER kit because I needed the Marine Corps decals from this F9F to use on my F7F that's in work. So I figured why not. The F9F will be in the Navy markings.

Awesome subject!

The Navy really suffered those years, the Jet age gave the USAF great rides that could not get slow enough (in final approach) for carrier ops.

Not to hijack here but..."Microscale Liquid decal film" is mainly for helping with old decals, to prevent them from disintegrating?

Yes, you brush it over the decal, wait at least 15 minutes, then you can soak the decal in water. Saves old decals from cracking or disintegrating. I've found that after brushing it on and letting it dry, trimming the decal close is best as the liquid film can leave a bit of residue on the clear border of the decal (older decals tend to have more of a clear border than newer decals).

Two very good looking aircraft there. I know from my own F7F build that you put a LOT of weight in the nose of that one! I just used the supplied barrel and crate to put under the tail. I decided to go that route when I found photos of the real aircraft with things under the tail to keep it up.
