Hi Guys, I'm "new" to forums but not modeling, I've been doing it since the 1960s. I have a Model USA kit of the L-19/O-1 Bird Dog in 1/48 scale that does NOT have an instruction sheet included. I was wondering if anyone out there has this kit that could send me a copy of the sheet or direct me somewhere else to locate one. Also, if anyone has a Hasagawa 1/48 kit of the same aircraft that they wanted to part with, I would be interested. Thanks

Thanks again for the instructions. I'm in a Viet Nam Era frame of mind lately, reading two excellent books (My Secret War; Thud Ridge) and just finishing today 2 Revell F-105 Thunderchiefs for a couple Friends. I'll be cutting plastic on a Tamiya A-1 H Skyraider this evening. The Bird Dog kit was beside it but will wait a while to start that.

Here's a couple shots of the two Revell F-105s I just completed. Old kits, hard plastic and some poor fit issues. Aftermarket decals. Did these for a couple Friends that needed them for display. Great aircraft if real life. Originally intended for delivery of a nuclear bomb with unique ejection system.

I just wanted to give a little update on my Skyraider build. I am amazed at everyone's swift building habits! Some of you guys certainly don't eat or sleep! It is so much fun to see the dedication and talent on some of these projects. Thanks for the continued inspiration!
So, I've finished the major camo painting on the fuselage, wing and some of the ordnance. The R-3350 is done and in it's cowl.
I'm currently doing some minor chipping on the usual places like hatches, wing walkways, leading edges, etc. The Air Force land based planes had more wear and tear than the ship bound aircraft.
Next will be a couple coats of clear in preparation of decals, panel lines, oil and some minor "dirtying up". This concerns me as I don't want to ruin the overall appearance of a slightly weathered used aircraft. Fingers crossed. Advise welcomed!
The plan is to pose it "bombed up", flaps down, canopy open and ready for a mission.
I'll post some more updates in a year or two as work progresses! (Ha Ha!)

Looking good. Pantherman

I'm currently building a F6F-5P Hellcat flown off of the carrier Hancock in 1945 and the overall color is Glossy Sea Blue, which is extremely dark. Once I painted the fuselage, cowl and wing it was just too dark to see it as a "blue", but more black. When I painted the tires with the wheels already in Sea Blue, it was difficult to differentiate the two colors. I used Tamiya XF-17 overall.
I want to lighten the blue a bit and don't want to spend too much time experimenting with mixing colors, so....... what would you guys suggest? Mix a little white in the sea Blue or combo of XF-17 & XF-18 (medium blue)? What have you used to get a dark but dicernable blue color for Navy WW II Pacific fighters??
