Hello all-
I wanted to say hello and introduce myself, my name is Mike and I recently returned to model building after a 40+ year hiatus. I was a relatively active modeler as a young teenager, but once I hit 17, sort of lost interest. After retirement, I built an Agora 1/8 scale kit, (No Time to Die Aston Martin) and that sort of sparked my interest again. Last Christmas, my wife bought me an older AMT Kit, a 1974 Ford Police Car, which I built, fabricated a few small details for and was bit hard by the bug.
Since January this year, I have built multiple cars, and am currently working on the Pegasus Great White Shark Kit, (which I purchased years ago intending to get back into it, but never followed through). I build, fabricate and try to hone older skills. I was amazed at the amazing tools, paints and items available now, compared to when I was kid in the late 70's. All I had was a tube of Testor's (usually having to settle for that awful "non-toxic" citrus stuff, because some clerk wouldn't sell me the real tubes without a parent, ha ha), a couple of Testor's brushes and a basic set of enamels. Now, I've got acrylics (and love) just about every tool imaginable, (I went a bit overboard, and continue to purchase little things here and there, you can never have too many tools), and even broke out my 30+ year old Paasche airbrush on the last couple, which worked fantastic after purchasing a new needle. I am amazed at how friendly the modelling community is, how just about everyone is willing to share advice and experience and try to build one model a month. I am basically building one model between arrivals of my 2nd Agora Kit (1963 Corvette) and it keeps me entertained while awaiting the next month's box.
I think that's enough for now, didn't mean to be so wordy, all the best and will share photos in the appropriate forums next.
