Wow, looks like the back half of a kayak!
I like the exposed airframe in the cockpit. Shows just how basic these birds were!

It's like every pilot was basically a test pilot when you think about it.

None of us have ever known a time without airplanes... Imagine the thrill and the mind bending experience of seeing one of these for the first time, or actually flying!

Indeed, but from a pilot's perspective (mine might be flawed) at least that subject has a metal frame not all wooden!

I think calling these "kites" is an appropriate term.

Welp, I just went down in flames. Tried for 2 days to get the top wing in place and no matter how I tried it wouldn't fit properly and I no longer have the patience for it.

an extra set of hands would mean more parts broken off. I think I broke the wing supports off twice each and the wing supports looked like a roller coaster, some were to tall others were way short. The final straw came last night when the landing gear and rudder broke off and my hand was nowhere near the rudder.

Oh well it was a good learning experience.

That sucks and I feel your pain! This was my second biplane and they are a completely different monster! I think my first was decent but definitely challenging and to be honest I set it aside for about two months after my first attempt to attach the wings. I've tried finding some good YT vids on how to build these but so far have not found any that explain any tricks for getting the wings and rigging done.
