Totally get that — I hesitated for a while too before getting mine! But honestly, once I started building it, it felt absolutely worth it. The craftsmanship is superb, and yes, it's electrically powered! The motor runs via an included power supply (or you can hook it up to a 12V DC source).I love these kits. But a bit outside my budget I fear!
They do look amazing though.
Is it electrically powered?
I totally get where you're coming from — having a fully running combustion engine model would be amazing, and I admire those kits too! But there's something unique about this electrically powered precision build: it offers the intricate mechanical detail and smooth operation without the hassle of fuel, fumes, or noise.I don't have any issues with having a scale model of something.
But in this case, for this amount of money, I want poisonous exhaust fumes filling my house!!!
And, in this case, it's so close to being a real engine.
Hey, I got 260 supercars, customs and classics sitting in my garage(basement)...
paper or not, they were completely free!
Pfft, seriously? If being electrically driven "turns you off," maybe this hobby isn't for you. Building paper models or real vehicles is a totally different ballgame — and not everyone has the garage, budget, or time for that." The fact that it is electrically driven turns me right off. "
Pfft . Who cares ?
why are you wasting all that time building paper models ?
Build real vehicles , damnit !
What does this mean?sweet jesus
That wasn't me saying that , it was Dave .
That was the point of my post .
I don't deny the beauty of this model and the precision with which it is made.
But if you are going to this level of precision and detail, then why not go that one step further, and make it run for real.
The fact that it is electrically driven turns me right off.
I'd rather have me a battery operated "Visible V8" from Revell.
There are actual small scale engines that run. Kits and engines you can purchase.
They may not accurately resemble a real full size engine (but then, neither does this one).
Don't get me wrong, I will be watching the build with enthusiasm,
but I would prefer a kit that built a proper working engine.
Would it be that hard to have made this run?
Ok, my bad, I didn't understand what you meant. What ?
Dave said the electric drive turned him off , not me .
You're 22 years old and this is the first time you've come across quotation marks and sarcasm ?
Fine, there will always be someone who likes it. Have a nice day.Okay, I apparently did not understand that I can't have an opinion on a scale model that isn't made of paper.
My comments were aimed at the manufacturer of the model and not the OP (sorry if that wasn't clear).
Once again, my bad for having a less than positive opinion of the design of the model.
I tried to be a little light hearted about, but I guess that didn't work.
I tried to show my support for the build and the OP's report, but I guess that didn't work either.
I'll just go back to my paper models and leave the hobby to the guys who know better.
Thanks for having me.
Thanks for the kind words! I was also pretty impressed by the build quality. And you're absolutely right about the assembly area — I actually launched one of the tiny parts early on and spent 10 minutes crawling around trying to find it I'll definitely keep that in mind next time. Really appreciate the tip!Pretty cool kit, unlike the visible V8. Looking at the video, and not unexpected. It seems to have a better quality & smoother operation.
One observation, one would be wise to dedicate a single-purpose assembly area. The chances of dropping parts are greatly increased. As tweezers being the primary assembly & parts handling tool.
Just saying
Price is not bad at all
