Just discovered this maker of some pretty cool Sci-Fi products, based on:

Quote taken from the Dust Website:

DUST is a "What if world", a fictionary world based on our true history and mixed-up with science fiction, created by Paolo Parente.

Dust Game, has taken Paolo's story and translated it into 1/35 kits and figures.

The figures could all be used on their own with WWII kits, as they are all based on uniforms and such from the end of WWII. Their vehicles however, have a little bit of flair to them.

They are all resin, so they are pricey.....but holy crap are they cool.

Here is a teaser:

I saw a small review in the latest Tamiya Military Modeler, and checker out their website.....some very, very cool stuff!!!

Check it out!!!

I like the style a lot. Warhammer was always a bit to cartoony for me. I see a "Dust" group build in the future.

The only thing about them, is that all but one of their kits are in resin, which means a much higher price, around $110US. Their first release was actually done in styrene, and is much better priced (for obvious reasons) about $40US. Not sure why they changed to resin over the styrene.

However, after seeing the short review in the latest Tamiya Military Modeler, all the resin parts have little if any pour sprues and are packaged in a plain brown cardboard box, with the parts suspended in two pieces of vacuform plastic.

I should contact them to see if they are in need of a North American Dealer!! LOL

It's not entirely finished yet, still needs a little work and base.

Nice! Very battletech/robotech.

Cheers DreamKnight, yeah never really noticed until you mentioned it but there are similarities to other mecha, mostly the robotech tomahawk.

It would make for a really fun GB or Contest Category - not Dust in particular but like 1:35 WWII figures with a scratchbuilt 'alternate' earth mecha, future tank thing. Know what I neam? Like your own design of something along these lines.

Hmmm.

Rumor has it that they are also in the process of doing some of the 1/35 machines in 1/48.

I have my request in with them about becoming a dealer for them, will let you know how it turns out!

OK....finally heard word back from Dust....and it is not favorable.

Dealer prices are good (but still translate into $120-$150 kits in the end), but their min. order is frakin crazy.

To get dealer pricing, you have to order 6 of the same item, so if I wanted to get dealer pricing, on say the one I have pictured in the first post...I would have to order 6 of them.

Now they are kind enough to allow me on my first order that those minimums don't have to be met, but after that it is the min. of 6 per item to get dealer pricing.

Makes it hard for a shop to be able to buy these, and they have no distributor anywhere to buy from. If I were to do it, it would be a one time thing for the first order (as there is no min. amount on the first order), after that their minimums kick in (which did I mention are crazy!!), which is a little rich for my blood.

So if anyone is interested, I would entertain doing a one time order providing there was enough interest. Let me know and I can get you some pricing.

I am a fan of anything like big stompy robos and mecha like, However, it will be a little while before my hobby budget recovers and I may get laid off completely again next week, so I am interested but would have to budget for it. Kind of reminds me of Gear Kreig though...............

Yeah, there is no time limit on this, other than it will be one order only, if I had 10-12 kits that people wanted, then I think it would be worth it (and would work into ScottG's GB he is thinking of).

So in the end, not like this is going to happen in the next week, or even month maybe. Depends on the interest, and how many kits people want.

I have seen a couple of reviews on the kits, and they look the Cat's Behind, but their dealer mins are just crazy, I can't think there would be many hobby shops that could afford a regular order from them, as I doubt they are huge sellers and a very niche item, especially at the MSRP they want.

Their first kit was a plastic styrene kit, not sure why they switched to resin. The plastic one is actually affordable at around $45, the rest are $100+ because they are resin.

I know all about minimum orders.
At work we asked to be a Sideshow/WETA dealer. Sideshow does busts and statues for Lord of the Rings, Movie characters, comic book characters etc..
Their minimums are 25 of every items that comes out, the few good ones and a lot of shelf warmers.
They really don't want dealers because it more money for them. Cut out the middle man because they sell out on their website on all their popular and hot items.
All I got to say about the Dust manufactures...small time operators
Why sell to you wholesale when they can sell off their site for full pop.

They do sell off of their website, but there are alot of people that don't or won't order something from Asia, and it seems there is no one in North America that sells it.

Seems like even the mighty HLJ also has a problem with Dust's dealer practices, as witnessed by their "inventory reduction" sale on their Dust items.

In the model industry, North America is a fraction of the total world revenue.
The Asian market is huge so they will not tailor their sales to satisfy North America.
Other than a few diehard sci-fi fan and the few open minded modellers, how many will they sell.
I remembered on another well known armor forum someone showing off the Rocket troopers, 90% of the responses were negative. From what a waste of plastic to why waste money on that when they could have put out a new wwII Greman Panzershlockenglibbenraketschnikenrad aust 4a.

If you want some nice sci-fi resin kits, there is Forge World.

The quality of their resin casting is the best I have ever seen. On the expensive side but you pay for quality. Since they are under the umbrella of GamesWorkshop you can only order them though their website of through GamesWorkshop stores.

For the WWII fans check out the Imperial Guard Section under the Warhammer 40 000 section.
These are all 28mm scale. Most of the figures are one piece castings, undercuts and straps that hang away from the body.
