Casting on Tanks

Was wanting to get recommendations on ways to cast on tanks. I've seen a couple different ways. One way is with Mr. Surfacer with a stiff brush. Another way I saw is using thin cement and once plastic is heated up to use a stiff brush. Also with the second method, you can use a Dremel to make more refined marks.

How do you guys accomplish this?

Yeah , those 2 methods .
I think using the Tamiya lacquer putty is the easiest route .
