Canadian CF-18s to the Med.

As announced yesterday, 6 CF-18s have been deployed to the Med. to patrol the UN Sanctioned No Fly Zone in Libya. They left Friday from Bagotville, Quebec, and are in theater today, however will likely be a day or 2 in workups before they will be able to participate

Meanwhile, French Jets from their base in Corsica struck at Libyan targets today.

Best I can tell from the photos, all aircraft are from the 425 Alouette Squadron, and consist of airframes:

All airframes have had the most recent upgrades done to them, including a Sniper FLIR/Target Designator pack.

I know it is war, but how sweet would a CF-18 look with a couple if Libyan kill markings on the nose!!

Specially if she starts shootin down some Migs! Just looked through my plethora of 1/72 CF-18 markings...and wouldn't you know it...not a "normal" set in the bunch....all special schemes.

you mean the military we are going to war too has some sort of Airforce? if so this will be different.

Just an update......

Seems the CF-18s flew their first mission, 4 CF-18s, along with a re-fueler flew an escort mission earlier today over Libya.

Seems there are actually 7 CF-18s deployed, as one picture clearly show a Polaris re-fueler with 7 CF-18s in the background. The 7th airframe is #769.

Some great pictures of a couple of CF-18s taking off from the base, armed with 3 AMRAAMs and 2 Sidewinders each.
