A terrible event in history filled with horrific atrocities committed against defenseless civilians
which was fully avoidable but for Allied political cowardliness.

One embarrassing note that hopefully hasn't been noticed is the fact that the writing on the side of the T34 turret
is of Czech origin, but I saw it in a pic on line and copied it, what the heck did I know it wasn't Russian:oops:

Thid dio was an act of love (weird, right?) but to me it was an unnecessary tragedy, the Americans could have entered a shattered
and basically defenseless Berlin very easily many days before the Soviet steamroller would arrive.
The people and yes the military would have surrendered much more readily to the Americans who they knew would not have
treated them so brutally and barbarically as the Russians and their savage Siberain and Mongol cohorts would surely do.

Untold numbers were tortured, raped and murdered from infants to the elderly, made no difference to them.
All because of the worst kind of political cowardess......vomitous indeed!
Innocent German civilians were actually, cruelly and forcibly turned back from crossing over to American lines at gunpoint!
Back to the flaming and tortuous Hell that surely awaited them, women took their children and jumped from bridges to "save them"
right in front of American troops who were sickened at the sites but were "ordered" not to intervene.

All not to offend our "Wonderful Russian allies" IE: the benevolent dictator Stalin who turned a purposeful "blind eye" to the atrocities
committed by his "heroic freedom fighters" who ironically never even knew or would ever know what freedom actually was.
It was events such as these during WW2 that throw everlasting shame on an otherwise great country.
Look up the book "Other losses" By author James Bacque, another great American achievement directly after the war in post war Europe
and get back to me

Ah, Russia, What an enigma of a country, the people themselves are generous but hard, boisterous and funny.
They possess a gusto for life, drink and food and are loyal friends.
When crossed, cheated or threatened.....look out!

I knew many Russians and Ukrainians when I worked as an electrician in my younger days in New York City.
They were mostly painters and plasterers, you could not tell which was which unless they told you.
They worked together in peace and harmony and brought the most unbelievable giant lunches from home
and shared freely among themselves and us "yanks"
To think that they are at war with each other now is beyond heartbreaking.....PUTIN!

They as a people have always been easy to politically manipulate, their ethnic pride and love of Mother Russia
has always been their Achilles heel.
This unfortunately is what has led them naively into the debacle they face today, they wanted and thought
they had a great leader in Putin, but as the years went by he has become a dictatorial megalomaniac
that has led them to utter ruin.

A land so rich in oil (worlds third largest producer) and other natural resources is now shunned and
sanctioned to death by the world,
Over 1,000,000 of their young men have been slaughtered on the killing fields of Ukraine with millions
more fleeing the country.
Their refineries are being smashed and many millions are under threat of freezing and maybe even starving
to death this winter. Their heating infrastructure has been horribly neglected through govt corruption
and when those systems freeze up just once they burst and can never be repaired only replaced.
Their rail systems, their arteries of life are bankrupt and falling apart, isolating remote areas and forcing
mass exoduses to the cities to keep from freezing and starvation
Runs on banks are starting up, forced conscriptions of the unfit and men up to fifty are scouring the
country to feed mostly untrained and unarmed lambs into the meat grinder of Putin's butcher shop.

But the people are rising up and big things will be happening soon, I just pray God to be with them

Heart broken.

Jim.
I ordered the book "Other Losses". Looks like an interesting read.
