Bandi gets star wars license!

The problem I'm having is finding stock from shops where shipping is not prohibitive.
Shipping from eBay/us/uk
Best I've found is hobbyeasy for this part of the world.

I have pretty much ordered the Fine Molds 1/72 scale Star Wars models. They may get hard to get after Sept. Sorry to
see Fine Molds lose this license they made very detailed kits. I guess you need to get them while you can, they are going to be very expensive on Ebay.

Yeah, I ordered a few last items. I wish they had gotten the Snowspeeder or 1/48 TIE back in. But, I'm hoping they will occasionally pop up on ebay or at hobby shows.

Some pics from the show this weekend in Tokyo.

1/72 Tie Fighter and Y-Wing announced in addition to other stuff like 1/48 AT-ST / Snowspeeder.

would like to see some new designs.
Some designs haven't been done at all and some haven't been done since AMT/ERTL releases years ago.

perhaps A-Wing, B-Wing, Tie Bomber in both 48th and 72nd scale and Rebel Transport and Capital ships in the same scale as the Star Destroyer.

I know the manufacturers are going with the tried and proven sales options - X-Wing, Tie Fighter ...

I guess they had an AT-AT on display too (1/48 I wonder?). Doesn't look like any info was posted about it though like the Star Destroyer. But the good news is Bandai isn't shy about releasing larger expensive kits.

Also look at the runners for the Darth Vader Tie Fighter on the far right in this picture. Looks like they are using some trick molding to mold the panels in black and frame in grey. Can't wait to buy these.

To see everything better watch this video posted by HLJ! The AT-AT moves and you can see all the runners more clearly.

Now that it's October that means the first few Bandai SW kits will be released next month!

Some official web sites for the kits have gone up on Bandai's page:

Introduction: http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/introduction/index.html

X-wing: http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/products/mc/mc01.html
Tie Advance: http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/products/mc/mc02.html

Vader: http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/products/ch/ch01.html
Storm Trooper: http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/products/ch/ch02.html

I'll buy the ships for sure. Not sure if I want the characters though... Not so much into character modeling though Vader is tempting to just buy and snap together at least. Hmm...

Also that AT-AT they showed at the show was 1/72 scale.

anyone have any more info on this ?

i thought I read somewhere, that FineMolds has until the end of the year to cease production - can't find it right now.

I wonder if FineMolds would be doing a final batch of all kits before the end of the year???
I notice the HLJ has alot on back order. Millennium Falcon is marked as discontinued - pitty, was just about to purchase it...

oh well, here's hoping they produce a stack of kits ...

from what i have heard, they have ceased production of the star wars kits and that they are simply running down their existing stock.

yeah, looks that way... retailers don't have much stock either ... oh well

the other thing that concerns me is the distinct lack of stock of other types of kits made by Finemolds, it almost feels like they are going out of business

Well we know what the box art will look like now!

Not bad!

It's November here in Japan now so that means the kits will be releasing this month! All three will be out on the 22nd. I'll be getting the X-wing and Tie for sure... Still don't know if I really want Darth.. Just not a huge figure fan (outside of Gundam anyway). But it's Bandai I could always snap it together just to see.
