AMT/Ertl "Lost in Space" Movie Robot

Sometimes doing some sanding to add a little "Tooth" to the surface of the plastic and remove the "Shiny/glassy" smoothness?

Pressing forward even though I've had the previously mentioned setbacks.

Did some nice masking with a plastic circle template for some call out details on the tracks.

My bondo seam filling came out pretty good.

Well I didn't have any blue in my collection (since this is only my 3rd build and I'm growing my paint list), so I went with a black primer and Gun Metal for everything. Then I'm going to use some silver/chrome etc. for sections of the arms and leg system.

I love how the paint turned out.
Maybe it's due to the lighting in your room, but it almost looks a little bronze. :)
I like it, and yeah, you knocked down those seams!
:)

It's a little more grey in reality, but still looks super nice. Very happy with its metallic sheen.

Looking great! You may want to give Vallejo primer several days to a week to set. Better safe than pulling off paint. Do you plan on spraying Tamiya clear blue on top of that?

No, I'm going to keep it gun metal for the finished piece. A big deviation from the "real" robot, but I'm liking how it looks now.

More masking and detail painting, all with the airbrush. Can't imagine hand painting this beast.

Using a draftsman's circle template to cut out various round shapes in the masking tape, though there's still a little clean up needed in some spots. And I need to fix the areas where the paint was pulled off too.

Getting him glued up into a finished position and then I can start the weathering.

It does look great!
Yes, I too am a BIG fan of gunmetal!
I like this robot much better in that color than in Blue.
:D :D
