I took the day off and did some retail therapy. I have had my eye on this for years. I don't normally was parts but these smelled like throw-up so I soaked and washed them.

That smell was probably mold release. Good you washed it off—it can play hob with paint adhesion, and even parts attachment.

I will also do a quick wipe down with alcohol before i do primer.
