This kit only took me about three years to complete! Back in 2022 I bought the Airfix kit A12011, which did not have a Black Buck scheme as an option. I used the Xtradecal Avro Vulcan Collection Pt.1 (X72331) for the markings, and grabbed the ECM pod from a Blackburn Buccaneer kit. I built the wing pylon from sheet styrene. I usually don't pay much attention to historical accuracy for my builds, but in this case I wanted to do better. It's definitely not 100% accurate (the lack of vortex generators on the nose, for example), but to the extent it is accurate much credit is due the wealth of information to be found on the Britmodeler forums. I'd recommend this thread from Dec. 2023, in particular, as a starting point.
Paint is a variety, but mostly Mission and Vallejo, with some Tamiya thrown in here and there. I didn't do much weathering (as the plane had recently been repainted before Black Buck One), but used oil paints for a panel liner.

It barely fits on my deepest shelf.
So many things went wrong with this build that at more than one point I nearly abandoned it. But I had already put some much work into it that I had to keep going, and I think the end result is at least acceptable. As relieved as I am to have the kit finished, I'm also tempted to build another one, so I can get more right the next time. I did get a second kit from a friend of mine, so... Hopefully it won't take me three years.
