Acrylic resin and white spirit?

I've bought a varnish from craft store which stated as acrylic and written that contains acrylic resin and can be thinned with white spirit. Can white spirit really solve acrylic resin?

I'm not familiar with that type of acrylic resin but you can try some turp and see if there are any negatives .
