A pair of Enterprises

Like how the lighting is working on this so far.

As far as the B hull goes, step at the front is by design. It's supposed to be there.
Was there on the Excelsior as well

thanks man

Yep, that lip is supposed to be there, granted it's a little exaggerated, it's supposed to have a lip.

On the rear, it shouldn't be puttied and sanded flat, but slightly beveled instead.

There is one other area that I should warn you about with the Acreation decals. The warp nacelle pylon structure is an absolute nightmare. You should pick up some model masters teal, and some white to dull it down a bit. That will make it match the decals pretty well. And you will need it for the tops of the nacelles, if you're going accurate to the movies, they were never lit.

alright good deal, yea i knew about the unlit warp pylons, thanks man

Your B looks great! The aztec decals really add a lot and save a ton of time.

When I built mine several years ago I used the Lakota hardware reference pics on Starship Modeler.

I beveled the underside edge of the fantail:

Added the "lip" around the front of the secondary hull:

I also added the structures inside the underslung hangar bay:

There were no aztec decals available at the time so I painted the aztecing using a brush.

Hopefully you don't think I'm horning in too much posting pics of my B.

I've run into a problem with the light kit. They give you some strip tape and some "no solder" connectors for strip lighting. What you didn't see in that video was the ten minutes it took for me to get all the lights to light up because they fit so loose in the connectors. I am debating using some of my own or just straight soldering them in place. Sometimes even the slightest bump made a strip go out. Very frustrating.

That's a lot of work on a small model. I think the fact the impulse engines on the B went out may be blessing in disguise depending on how much ambient light shows thru from the saucer LEDs. I'd recommend frosting the clear bits before painting them red or red-orange. A nice soft glow to me is better than overly bright engines but maybe that's just me.

Good stuff!
I like how you are working on both simultaneously.
Do you find that doing that helps you? As in, you might discover a trick on one that you can then incorporate into the other?
