I think it was the first kit body that was broke...I broke down
Thanks. That's still an option (if i don't melt it first). I pretty confident that the paint is cured. And this is already the second body for this kit (See above). So I want to at least complete the kit. If the build is not shelf worthy, I put it on the stoop and neighbor or other usually grabs it.I would not clamp it, at least not until after a week or more for the paint to harden, I could see paper-towels or kleenex leaving a mark in softish paint. And with that gloss, anything will show.
Maybe another day in the sun could return it to normal, at least part way? I do not know if plastic has a "memory" like sheetmetal can.
You may have luck even with it bent/splayed like that. Glue one rocker panel in place leaving the other floating in space. After 24+ hours of hardening maybe the other side can be pulled in and glued with only a little bit of clamping force.
Reminded me of my 72 vet. It was a hard top, 390, a bit darker metallic blue! I have one in my stash!. Your's is looking good. The clamps left severe gouges/deformations on the sides (Dah!). I sanded around the injury, but it was too deep. I'm not giving up. I'm going to fill the gashes and try to sand it all flush.

*The squeezing and heating did correct the warping pretty good.
After another Rub Out, I had to try a different blue. I did not want to wait for shipping of another can of the dark blue. I really liked the darker blue with the pearl interior and the red stripped tires. I do not like this blue, shame. Thoughts?

Thank you for validating my struggles. The dark blue was pretty sweet, but at this point, you've cleared some pretty significant hurdles, and it's still looking good!
Thank you, that is very kind. I started up again maybe 20 years ago. But only in the last few years have I really concentrated on improving my craft. Sobriety helps greatly in that regard. Please share your work!! This the only outlet some of us have. No one wants comes to my house to see my display of past projects. Build on.Watching! Im attempting a comeback to automobile modeling, seems theres not too many active car builders out here. Nice post with pics. Hope my models come close to this one overall with details.
Hi, StevieWell I have pics of my first paint in progress. I am running short on tenacity so here is what I have so far. Still feel theres a lot of room to go in the quality department but I just want to get on to other things. This metallic paint is something else. Anyway I m trying to copy my 68 Camaro (same as my avatar).

Thats damn funny!Scrolling through the thread made me do a double-take.
Did Cal put so many layers of paint on that Vette that it turned into a Camaro?
