Been a while since I've been here but here is my next project.

What I really what to work on is the Sturmgeschutz IV but I am waiting for my tracks to show up in April, oh well at least they are going to get here.

I have the engine, fuel tank, body panel, and headlight together and ready for priming

I do like Aoshima models. Great fit and very little flash on the parts. The only problem I encountered was on the fuel tank. The 2 halves had to be blended together to remove the seam line where they were joined. I'll find out how good of a job I did after I prime it.

I like building motorcycles. But I am not a fan of Aeroshima or Hasagawa for motorcycles. I bought a kit from each and neither kit would go together. The Hasagawa kit (don't remember which bike it was). the rear tire and chain assembly would not go together onto the frame. It just wouldn't line up. Ended up tossing it after trying for a week to make it fit. The Aeroshima kit was a Yamaha 400. The plastic was the cheapest plastic in any kit I have ever seen. The chain was only molded on on side. Not a single part fit without having to modify it. It was like the parts were from 10 different kits and were supposed to fit. I tossed this kit also. IMG_0622.JPGIMG_0654.JPG I only build Tamiya bikes. Here are a couple pics of bike kits I have built.

Nice builds. So far I haven't had any fit issues, but this is only my 2nd motorcycle model from any manufacturer and no major issues

I almost forgot..... Back in the late '80's I bought a 1976 Kawasaki KZ 900 LTD. ( In very good condition).... Then a friend showed me a model he had sitting around forever in a box. ( He got it when he bought a same bike in '76. I have yet to re-assemble it ( I think there is a missing turn signal, or something )
The model might have been a "promotional Kawasaki" kit ??
( Looking at the pic of the model, I see the mirrors are missing )

Ok, I was working on the model, doing the priming and preliminary painting and finish painting on a part or two and then I discovered I was out of 2 clear colors and the thinner I use on my gloss and matt varnishes. That's annoying at times so the model is on hold until I get those items, ordered and will be delivered by Thursday. In the mean time here are some more photos.

Nice work. I like how you label the sprue for the color. I will have to try that when I start my D Day build.

It is the only way I can keep the colors straight for me. I used to find out that I painted parts the wrong color then I would have to strip the paint off and start again. It was a pain in the rear, especially since I was using enamel colors at the time and the thinner stunk.

I received the gloss and matt varnishes yesterday, they arrived early. Now all I have to do is find the energy to spray the model. Work has been a beast this week. Maybe Saturday, got a short day then.

Model building is SUPPOSED to be "leisure" ... a hobby..... Makes you forget your job crap.....
Until your little sharp knife stabs your finger tip... o_O

Haven't had that happen in the 30+ years but I have done some serious cuts to my fingers and once I stabbed my palm.

Got some more done yesterday and Saturday.

Got the body and frame mostly together, the decals on (still 5 to go). for the gauges all that is left is to paint some clear colors on it. Close to being finished.

Nice work !! ( Personally, on the real actual bike, I feel that gas tank shape is unattractive )..... Even though, I am a vintage Honda guy.....

Here is an update.
20240321_193705.jpg20240321_193726.jpg20240321_193739.jpg20240321_193755.jpg

All I have to do on the body are a few paint touch ups, then final assembly.

20240321_193833.jpg

Clear part are painted, I do have to repaint the wing mirrors, I just don't like the chrome color. I'm going to go with gloss black instead.

20240321_193856.jpg

Trying to decide which seat to use. I'm leaning towards the one on the left.

20240321_193922.jpg

And the body panels all painted and decaled with a gloss clear applied.

I'm actually expecting to be done by Monday, but I'm not going to rush it just to get done.
