Do I need to thin my Tamiya X-22 clear coat?

Yes I did prime, I used Vallejo Surface Primer. Grey. I painted with the Vallejo Air USN WWII colors. Also, since I plan on clear coating with with the Tamiya X-22, I ordered some Tamiya thinner. I have Vallejo thinner, but several things I’ve read/watched recommended matching the brand of...

Do I need to thin my Tamiya X-22 clear coat?

Sorry if this is a rookie question, but I just finished painting my 1:48 Tamiya Corsair (first scale build). From what I’ve gathered, I should put on a clear coat prior to weathering and decals. I have Tamiya X-22. Do I need to thin it or just spray as is from the bottle? After everything is...

And so it Begins…My First Build (Update)

I’m going to do the Corsair just like the box with simple weathering and work on basic building/painting skills. The P-47, being a similar kit, I will try applying some of the lessons learned and maybe experiment with chipping.

    Im getting better

That canopy looks good. I’d be happy if the canopy on my 1/48 Birdcage Corsair turns out half as good (First Build).

    First Model in 6 years!

I had that kit in my hand yesterday at Hobby Lobby. I shoulda just bought it for a future build. The P-40 is a classic! A cool side note: 25years ago I was at small local airshow and there was a guy selling old military unit patches. He had an AVG Flying Tiger patch on the table for $20...

Thanks Rob, I tend to be of the same mind. To me, detailing means painting/weathering.

Thanks for all the great Info! I ordered my first kit. It looks like a straight forward build that can be detailed as far as you want to take it. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-61046-chance-vought-f4u-1-2-bird-cage-corsair--106391

    Just getting started in Georgia

Hello all! This looks like a great group. The last plastic scale model I built was in the 80’s. I have built and flown RC for years, but I have always been fascinated with scale plastic models. WWII aircraft will be my primary focus. I’ve been doing research on what to buy to start off with...
