I get mine from a company called Altex. This is the one I like since it has a switchable output that goes from 3volts to 12 volts. www.altex.com/Velleman-Compact-Switching-Power-Supply-w-Selectable-Output-PSSMV1USA-P144571.aspx

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

Thanks for the comments from everyone. I have been building Star Trek only kits on the TrekWorks channel at youtube, and now have started another channel called SciFiModelAction. I will be doing kit reviews, tool tips and passing along lots of other useful info related to building scifi...

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

Easy answer. Cutting out the windows is much more difficult. Especially if you are picky about how they look. You can scrape the windows to look almost perfect to the naked eye. There is really no difficulty in working with the all clear version as far as assembly goes that is different than the...

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

And more shots of the model all finished up. I'll post some better still shots after I finish up the display stand its getting mounted on. I had a lot of fun on this build and was very pleased with the way scraping off the paint on the window ports worked. The decal set included with the model...

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

I have finished building the Clear Enterprise D kit. Here are some shots of it which are screen grab's from my you tube videos of it. I've finished up the engineering hull and warp engine assembly in these shots. Also test fitting and sealing up the saucer before I finish applying the Aztec...

    1/537 Reliant Project

Good progress. All you need to do on the wiring there is hook up a 9volt power supply where the battery is connected. I would say rated at least 1400 mAh. That should be enough for all the LEDs you'll need. If you just want to turn the whole thing on or off, just wire your switch in on either...

    1/1400 Enterprise D

Sorry to hear about the spill. But I think you have a good handle on it. Looks nice in the pictures and some dull coat will help it out like you mentioned. I think you'll really enjoy the clear molded kit.

They all look really really nice. Good job with the lighting. It's nice to see those 1/1000 kits done that way.

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

It's all good. If I get a new one from Round 2 I'll have a complete second kit to build and improve upon for later. I really can't complain either. I have built about 20 of the AMT and Polar Lights kits in the last several months and this is the first issue with the molds I have noticed. I am...

Newbie and the AMT 1/1400 Clear Enterprise D

Yes, that is the putty I use. I buy automotive primer in cans made by Transtar in either Grey, White or Black. Comes in a 16 oz can and is a better value than the small hobby cans. I think it also sands and dries better.

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

Aarrghh, major snag in the build happened today. I had just finished the top of the saucer paint and decals. I picked up the lower half and as I prepped it for painting, I noticed it has a major molding flaw all the way from the front side edge back past the phaser ring, ouch ! :-X Its like a...

Newbie and the AMT 1/1400 Clear Enterprise D

Cool, the Warbird will be a very fun build for you. I used a 1/32" Dremel bit to do the window holes on mine. Just don't let the bit clog up with plastic. If it does and you keep going, the window holes will keep getting bigger and bigger. I drilled out all the windows first and then painted it...

SMA Big Spring Contest Entry WIP 1/3200 Scale AMT Romulan Warbird

Sorry I can't tell you what the exact colors are as I mix my own. But I started out with a shade of medium green as the base color and then highlighted here and there with lighter shades of green and some grey. Also a little black at the leading edges for the weathering and wear look. I...

Round 2 Models 1/537 Scale U.S.S. Reliant build with custom lighting

Thanks all for the nice comments. I have been getting some requests for more info on the lighting of the model and rather than reply to individuals I figured I would just put it down here so anyone can check it out when they want to. The Lighting Kit I used is made by Evans Lighting and it is...

Newbie and the AMT 1/1400 Clear Enterprise D

The Warbird is a next Gen ship. I meant the original AMT Romulan bird of prey ship from the classic TV show. The warbird does not have any molded in window detail. You could use the kit supplied window decals as a guide but its a lot of really small hole to drill. The original BOP kit is known...

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

Yes there or at Cult TV mans site. I am using the kit supplied decals and from the detailed pictures I have seen of the real model used in Generations, They look really close in person. I chose to use a medium shade of Grey as the hull color and it does make a difference which color you use...

AMT 1/1400 Scale Clear Enterprise D Model Build With LED Lighting

Just wanted to say that so far, I am really pleased with the decals for this kit. I applied them in the numbered order and they line up perfectly. Also, I chose not to sand of the panel details on the model and these decals are laying down over them very well. They come very close to looking...
