Do I need to thin my Tamiya X-22 clear coat?

Vallejo primer is what caused your paint to lift. It has terrible bonding qualities. If I use primer then I use a solvent type that has the bite to stay put. I have found that Vallejo paint or primer will lift from plastic when masking tape is removed. If my primer is solvent type then the...

What a difference a year makes.

Lol guys, if you think I have a lot you haven’t seen my friend’s incredible humongous 1/72 kit collection of over 3,000 boxed examples and he still buys but only builds a handful a year.

What a difference a year makes.

I stopped buying stuff a couple of years back. Even if I continue to build non stop, there's at least a couple of decades in building time. ‍ I will eventually put up some of the kits up for sale that I know I will not get to. I still have more kits in other places in the house. I

JU-87 One you wont see from me again. COMPLETED

You and me both, hate specially Vallejo. I’m slowly switching to Mr. Color lacquers as my Model Master supply dries up. I used Humbrol enamel paints back in the late 60s early 70s and were EXCELLENT specially hand brushing. Hopefully the quality is still there.

    1/16 King Tiger

That is one heck of a detailed build. Your Zimmerit came out looking very good as did ALL the paint and weathering. Figures are hard to paint specially the face, eyes and hair but looks like you have it under control. I have several 1/35 armor kits with full interiors to build and find them to...

Do I need to thin my Tamiya X-22 clear coat?

I generally do the same but I find that using artists oils for streaking works best over a flat coat allowing superior blending and feathering.

True IJN Akagi Flight Deck Color?

I believe so. It's an old 1/48 Nichimo kit with many scratch built details.

True IJN Akagi Flight Deck Color?

Hobby Lobby is my go to place for these things. I used raw umber but burnt umber will also work.

True IJN Akagi Flight Deck Color?

Tamiya deck tan is good. Let it cure a couple of days then give it an artist oil burnt umber wash to darken and pop the grain and recessed details

First model in 42 years. How time flies!

Only 42 years? lol that’s a lifetime for some of the younger members. I personally have been enjoying this hobby for the last 54 years so a lot of things have changed and improved since then. Good looking Stearman.

    Masters of the Air

Just finished watching the mini series. It was very well done and had outstanding special effects. Makes one appreciate even more what those brave men went thru watching the carnage and death aboard the Fortresses often not detailed in documentaries. Watch this and get a first hand account how...

    Questions About Panel Accent Liners

So you are saying that the panel liner will eat thru the Gauzy? They claim oils and solvents can be used over it for weathering. https://ak-masters.com/app/pdf/AK%20894%20INTERMEDIATE%20GAUZY.pdf The panel liner is probably lacquer based and lacquer will eat thru anything.
